“Do you have an butt-load of tooling in your swiss lathe, but don’t keep track of the tool life? I’m going to show you how easy it is to turn on tool life management so you know when it’s time to change any of these tools before they break your machine. Check this out!
To set up your tool life monitoring on a swiss is really simple.
If you’re in auto mode: go to your offset button. You’re already in your offset page.
Come over here to the tool life tab. Turn this guy on, and here’s your tool counts.
So at this point, all you have to do is go over to the tool number that you want to turn on, and input the anticipated life of that tool that you want to achieve. If there’s already something in there you may make an adjustment. It’s a simple input.
Once that’s turned on the machine will begin counting your tool life on every cycle it runs, and eventually once you hit your number in life, it’ll alarm itself out. It is that simple.
Now that you know how to turn on your tool life management, it’s up to you to figure out how long those tools should last. Only you can prevent unexpected tool failure!”
