“Welcome back to China Precision Parts Corp. I’m going to give you my review of the Okuma LB3000 EXII.

The LB3000 is one of several different Okuma models we have in our facility. I already did a review on the Okuma MULTUS B250.

This is a little bit different because it’s a traditional style chucker lathe. [It] comes equipped with a 4′ bar feeder. We have a quick change collet system on the main spindle versus a chuck on this machine. 12-position tooling turret, with live milling on both the front and back side if needed, as well as a sub spindle scrap conveyor, and a part catcher.

A couple things we really like about this machine: being able to mill and have y-axis capability. [This] allows us to do some neat things like drilling holes off center, or mill off center, or do contour milling or odd shapes. It’s a fantastic addition to do more complex parts one and done. The part catcher, the sub spindle, the bar feeder, and the scrap conveyor allows us to run continuous. Allows us to run lights out when needed.

Another thing we really like about this machine is it’s construction. It’s a heavy duty box way machine. It’s built solidly. Thermal compensation. Really tight tolerances. Much better construction than we have on our other chucker-style lathes, which are Haas machines and our Doosan machines. Never had an issue maintenance-wise. Never had an issue with the quality of the build on this machine. It’s been fantastic all around.

We have this LB3000 equipped with a bar feeder and a part unloader. This exact same model is across the aisle from me, and it’s equipped and linked to our AWR Automatic Load & Go robot. But you got a lot of Versatility on how you want to run these. You can put bar feeders or robots. All in all, been a great machine.

I’m going to give the LB3000 a 4 out of 5 Stars. It’s a fantastic machine. There’s nothing really wrong with it, but you can’t give everything a 5 out of 5. Not everything’s perfect, unless you ask my wife. She might say I am.”
